The Border Smackdown was created as opportunity to bring together boys teams from around the Pacific NW and the western Canadian provinces, to enjoy high level competitive volleyball. During it's first 5 years of existence, the Border Smackdown was hosted by the Spokane Boys Volleyball Club (SBVC) and it's Director, Roland Madany. Roland still runs this event today!

Boys volleyball teams from all over the western United States and Canada meet in the Border Smackdown in May. The weekend between Mother's Day and Memorial Day when Canadians celebrate their Victoria Day holiday. These teams celebrate the sport they love, competing in 14's, 16's, and 18's divisions.

This means that this year's competition will hold just as much excitement and passion as the years past, and then some!

To all Border Smackdown participants regarding venue change from The Podium to Spokane Convention Center:

The Spokane Public Facilities District which owns and operates The Podium and The Spokane Convention Center would like to welcome all athletes, coaches and spectators to the Border Smackdown in May. The PFD had hoped to host this great event in the new Podium this year. But due to delays with availability of product and shipping issues we had to delay some of the construction that is needed to complete the Podium. Our only time to complete this phase of construction is in May. We will be able to provide a completed state-of-the-art venue for the BST in 2023. We look forward to hosting this event as we have for the past several Border Smackdowns in the Spokane Convention Center in May of 2022.
